 Only for emergency use.Jan 31, 2010
This "lens" is very soft, vignettes like crazy, suffers terrible color aberrations, and only widens the field of view slightly. I knew I was taking a chance getting it but decided to anyway. Mistake.

 Great add-on for the Xacti HD1000Jun 30, 2008
I purchased this wide-angle adapter shortly after I got my HD1000. I found the HD1000 had a somewhat narrow field of view with the base lens, but this adapter works great. Very useful when shooting indoors or other tight spots where you want to capture a broader frame. It screws right in to the threads on the front of the HD1000 lens (40.5mm), or on top of a filter assuming it's threaded both sides.
Only real downside is that it adds a bit of weight and bulk to the camera. Harder to fit the HD1000 in a pocket with the wide-angle adapter on.

Great accessory for the HD1000!May 03, 2008
This wide angle lens works great and provides a significantly wider angle than the stock lens and screws on easily to the Sanyo Xacti HD1000. Don't fully zoom in while using it though (or you will negate the point of it anyway) as a big zoom with this lens may vignette or distort your image. This lens works great for tight spots or where you can't back up enough to take in the whole picture you want to capture.
It comes with a vinyl bag and lens caps for the bottom and top of the lens adapter. It screwed on fine on top of my $11 Hoya 40.5mm UV filter lens which I bought and use as a protector for the Sanyo lens. It does make the HD1000 a bit more front-heavy so probably use the wrist strap while using this just in case. Also be a bit careful as this point and shoot pistol grip looks even more like a gun with this adapter.
I recommend this lens accessory if you can spare the cash.

Sanyo VCP-L07WU 0.7x Wide Angle Adapter Lens for HD1000 Camcorder
Definitely a great add-on for times when you simply can't back up enough to include everything you want to appear in a clip (most useful indoors). I wish it were 0.5x instead of just 0.7, but still helpful.
